Why won't this mountain move? When will this valley end? The enemy wants us distracted by these questions. He wants our anger to become the focal point. As we struggle to comprehend why God, with all of His infinite power won't remove the thing that brings us tremendous agony. Leading to the production of doubting the goodness of our Father. Believing that He is carelessly withholding something from us.
Perhaps you are helplessly watching someone you love battle an illness. An illness that is destroying their body. An illness that holds them in a tortuous mental prison. Perhaps you are grieving a loss. The loss of someone who has been critical in helping shape you. The loss of something you waited for, only to watch it be ripped away. Or, grieving for something you believed would have occurred by now. Perhaps you are feeling all alone and forgotten. Wondering if anyone notices you. Perhaps you are feeling shattered as your family has been torn apart. Questioning how you, or anyone else involved could have prevented this. Waiting to see if there is even the slightest chance for reconciliation. Or, perhaps you are experiencing a multitude of these examples. Feeling as if you are one moment away from falling into a thousand pieces that could never be put together again.
All of these things were not a part of God's original design. They are a result of the fall of humanity. I don't say that flippantly. I say that because it's the only way my mind can even remotely comprehend why we experience them. Why these things run rampant. And it reminds me that I would never survive my time here on earth without the assurance of Christ's return. Below are some songs and scripture.
Sing them. Sing them louder than the sound of your unbelief. Say them as if your life depends on it; because spiritually it does. Pour out your entire soul. Allow all of the confusion, pain, disappointment, fear, anger, shame and grief to drain from every part of your being. Then let the Prince of Peace refill you. Dwell with Him as He ever so attentively holds the weight of all that burdens you. Breathe Him in as He silences the overwhelming thoughts within your mind. Look through the lens of eternity. And smile as the Holy Spirit reminds you that the time we spend in this world is but just a moment in comparison to what is to come. Celebrate that there will be a day when all of our heartbreak, depravity and longing will vanish. For when we reach that day, we will finally be completely satisfied.
